SETI began their relentless search for extraterrestrial contact back in 1960 in an experiment called Project Ozma. This first effort was the brainchild of astronomer Frank Drake. Although there have been rumors from time to time to the contrary, according to official records, no contact has been established in the first fifty years of the endeavor.
SETI is now expanding their search methods with a new project called Project Dorothy, named after Dorothy in the “Wizard of Oz.” The target of this search will be five stars, and involve 12 scientists on 6 continents. The Allen Telescope Array will handle the data.
What do you think? Will new technology and cutting edge equipment do the trick? Will we ever make contact with ET?
